Maria's work ranges from sculptural vessels through to free hanging panels and architectural pieces. Inspired by her everyday environment, Maria develops ideas through drawing, photography and mixed media.
Employing various techniques such as fusing, slumping, sandblasting and painting, the work is transformed into both two and three dimensional glass pieces. The qualities of depth, texture and diffusion are enhanced by the work's reaction to light. Maria studied glass at Central Saint Martin's college of Art and Design completing Postgraduate certificates in both Glass and Fine Art and Glass and Architecture. Her panel Coastline was awarded the George and Evelyn Gee prize for craftmanship in the 2005 Stevens Competition.
