Lucy Alexandra Batt

British artist Lucy Alexandra Batt’s elegant glass vessels are synonymous with intense depth and vibrancy of colour, and impeccable hand-engraved artistry.

Handmade in England, each artwork is the result of a collaboration between the artist and some of the UK’s most talented glass blowers. Each piece takes months of dedicated craftsmanship to achieve the artist’s complex designs and impeccable standards.

Inspired by nostalgic and romantic objects, the artist’s rhythmic and meticulously executed patterns are carved out of the exterior high gloss surface revealing a richly coloured layer below. Her fine craftsmanship and luxurious finish ensure each piece appeals to the most discerning eye.

Represented by the acclaimed Plateaux Gallery, Lucy’s work can be purchased at Thomas Goode (Mayfair), purveyors of the world’s finest tableware.

Lucy Alexandra Batt creates bespoke commission pieces, as well as integral sheet glass features for high-end interiors and yachts.

Trained at Chelsea College of Art & Design and Central Saint Martins, British artist Lucy Alexandra Batt has been creating luxurious glass artworks since 2004 for collectors, interior designers and private clients.

Artist statement

“The purpose of making, for me, is to push the limits to which the material and engraving can be taken. With each new piece I explore a new challenge to master purity of colour, form, reflection and complexity of pattern.

The making process is a long journey, from vision, through sketches and tests to the carving of the final piece. Every stage is planned to the last detail, allowing each element of the design to work harmoniously. Colours and reflections flow through the vessel as a celebration of each carefully carved line.”
